Proudly Serving The Greater Saint John Area

Dr. Heather Toner grew up in northern New Brunswick in a small town called Grand Falls.  Growing up, she always had a strong interest in human sciences, natural medicine, and living an active lifestyle.  It was a combination of personal experiences as well as a strong desire to help people which lead her down the career path of becoming a chiropractor.

Education and Career

In 2004, Dr. Toner began her post-secondary education at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology.  From there, she moved to Toronto for four years to pursue her dreams in becoming a chiropractor.   In June of 2012, she graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with Magna Cum Laude and clinical honours distinctions.  Dr. Toner also took advantage of her time living in a large city and concurrently completed her certification in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

Dr. Toner began her chiropractic career in September of 2012 and thoroughly enjoys treating and helping people in the Greater Saint John Area.  With now five years of clinical experience under her belt, she is very eager and excited to be opening her own clinic doors at Toner Chiropractic and Wellness Centre

Professional Mission

Dr. Toner’s professional mission is to provide optimal evidence-based care by promoting health and illness/injury prevention to patients of all ages. She believes that working in collaboration with her patients, and implementing both active and passive components of care, is vital in achieving a therapeutic goal – whether it be optimal sport performance, pain control, or general health and wellness.

For Dr. Toner, the most gratifying part of being a chiropractor is simply having the opportunity to help the patients that enter her doors. She reports that it’s like a gradual transformation – they normally arrive in pain, and over the course of their customized treatment plan, a few things happen: pain subsides, mood heightens, a thriving doctor-patient relationship is established, and the focus of treatment transitions from pain management to wellness care.  On a daily basis, it is Dr. Toner’s mandate is to fix the source of her patients' problems and provide them with long-term results that lead to a better quality of life.  Finding the root cause of the pain/dysfunction and addressing it, rather than masking it with medication, is in her humble opinion, what chiropractic is all about.

Personal Life

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Toner enjoys spending time with her husband Evan, son Charles, and dog Taylor. She enjoys cycling, downhill skiing, gym training, hiking and yoga.  Although her husband is undoubtedly the chef in the family, Dr. Toner does also enjoy spending time in the kitchen and baking healthy snacks and treats for her family.
